| The
Iron Maiden The name of this instrument seems to have its
origin from a prototype that was built in the town of Nuremberg. It is
also said that
this sort of sarcophagus had a maiden face carved on its front door
probably aimed at making this horrible container look more refined.
The sarcophagus was fitted with spikes on
the inside that pierced
different parts of the body but never transfixed vital organs in order
to
keep the victim alive, hanging upright.
The device would be opened both from the front and from the
back
side without the victim being able to get out. The container was so
thick
that no shriek could be heard from outside unless the doors were opened.
When the sarcophagus doors were shut back, the spikes penetrated
the
same parts of the body and into the same wounds as before, inflicting a
long and cruel agony. |

The Inquisitional Chair All of them have common
characteristics, in that they are covered with spikes on the back, on
the arm-rests, on the seat, on the leg-rests,
and on the foot-rests.
It's easy to comprehend the effect of the spikes piercing the
victim's body made even more effective by a screw bar system to
immobilize the victim and make the pins penetrate more deeply.
The bars, either made of iron or wood, fastened the victim around the
waist, around the wrists, and around the chest or bust.
The seat was often made of iron that could be heated. These
implements were used in Germany up until the 19th century, in
Italy and in Spain up until the end of the 1700s, in France and in other
central European countries, according to certain sources, up until the
end of
1800. |

Hobbes was born April 5, 1588 - the year of England's battle with the
Spanish Armada. Elizabeth 1 was
queen. Her father, Henry Vlll , had closed
(and looted) the monasteries in England not long before Hobbes was born.
Queen Mary , Elizabeth's half-sister, had spent her short reign
trying to reinstate the supremacy of the Catholic Church in Britain. Folks
called her "Bloody Mary" because religious persecution dominated her reign.
Stocks
were the "mildest" form of persecution and torture. Yet, it could not have
been easy for someone in
stocks
to endure the public humiliation and disgrace - like
chamber pots
being dumped on them. But what happened when a person was accused of being a
heretic and the Inquisitors of the Catholic Church entered the scene?
Take a look at this "heretic's
fork." Scroll down to the second picture. Look at the prongs at
the top and at the bottom of this device. Now look at the top picture. Where
are the prongs? Rammed into the "heretic's" chin and sternum.
Once the heretic's fork was firmly imbedded in a victim's
body, he could not move his head. He could only breathe the phrase that was
inscribed (in Latin) on the inside of the fork: "I recant." Maybe - if he
recanted - he would be spared. More likely, the fork was just the first step
in the torture process. Death - often by
burning
- would not occur until later, after the victim endured much more anguish.
Profound anguish like that produced by "the wheel." |

“The mission of Magisterium is linked to the definitive nature
of the covenant established by God with His people in Christ. It
is this Magiesterium's task to preserve God's people from
deviations and defections and to guarantee them objective
possibility of professing the true faith without error. Thus,
pastoral duty of the Magisterium is aimed at seeing to it that
the People of God abides in the truth that liberates”
(Catechism, no. 890). |
|
It is this
Magiesterium's task
to preserve God's
people from deviations and defections and to guarantee them objective
possibility of professing the true faith without error. |
|
Are we to understand that
this Magiesterium, The Pope, or The System
that has his Power, can stop God's Salvation from sin from anyone,
even the Magiesterium it self, when it (Salvation from sin) has
been done already? To stand "before the Lord", in front
of the cross, or caring the icon, as "a mighty one on the
earth," "professing the true faith without error", would not show
love for Jehovah. It would be nice to know that there is no
Torture in Christ Jesus that is done in the Church, nor
out of the Church, either. Teaching,
not torture is the necessary form of love (Agape).
It would seem that He (Jesus) died
for all (Philos).

Torture is the deliberate infliction of pain to extract information or to
punish opponents.
Today, torture
continues to be used throughout the
world for political purposes. Repressive governments use torture against
individuals, such as political and religious leaders, judges, journalists,
educators and health professionals, as well as whole communities, in order
to terrorize and
control them.
Physical torture may
include such atrocities as severe beatings to head and genitals,
burning of the skin with cigarettes and torches, suspension by arms or legs,
near suffocation, electric shocks, multiple rapes and other sexual
violations.
Psychological torture
may include prolonged
isolation, seeing or hearing others tortured, sexual
humiliation, confinement in small places or crowded cells, and
mock executions. The torturer ultimately attempts to break the
will and spirit of individuals by forcing them to betray their
beliefs, their principles and themselves.
